About this book:

Born into Afrikaner nationalism, Roelf Meyer rose through the ranks of the National Party in the 1980s and became its chief negotiator at the high-stakes talks to end apartheid. His special bond with Cyril Ramaphosa, chief negotiator of the ANC, proved critical. He sheds light on their relationship, which played a role in Meyer’s appointment 30 years later as US ambassador, and answers the question: what does it take to negotiate peace between seemingly irreconcilable parties?
