Sophia Blijdenstein had another one of her episodes where she simply blacks out. As if she’s back in the well she fell into as a child with her pet chick, Rebekka. And there’s only darkness. Nothingness.
When she came to, she found her husband, the pop star Max Bladen, with a bloody wound at the side of his head. Unconscious. Pulse weak, breathing shallow. Someone tried to kill Max right here in their living room. But who? It’s only her here. It couldn’t be that she . . .? Could it?
In the midst of a media circus, Sophia is arrested for attempted murder. Max is in a coma and might never wake up to point out the guilty party. What really happened? Sophia herself doesn’t know. She just knows she must not reveal anything to Sergeant Wolfgang Bekker about that Lila woman whom she and Max had argued about. Or about the fact that she sometimes talks to her deceased father . . .
She will have to find a way to prove her innocence very quickly, otherwise a lifetime in Pollsmoor or Valkenberg awaits her.
