Jeanne Viall
Biographical info

Jeanne Viall was born in Rehoboth Namibia in 1960.

She received a BA at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg in 1981, She started her career as a journalist at the Pretoria News in 1985 and moved to the Cape Argus in 1987. She worked as a sub-editor for many years before moving to the newsroom. Her specialist beats included health and features.

In 1998 she won a MASA (Medical Association of SA) award for her reporting on medical issues in a changing healthcare system. In 2008 she went freelance, and now works from her home in Stellenbosch.

She has compiled, edited and contributed to a journal "Conversations - A Forum for the Changing Health Paradigm" (to be published early 2011). She writes for and edits a website with her husband Dr Bernard Brom (www.creatinghealth.co.za) which explores health from an integrative approach. Her articles have appeared in many magazines over the years.

Her interest in health is broader than just the health of people, and includes the health of our food systems and the health of the planet.
