Walton Golightly
Biographical info

Walton Golightly is a freelance writer from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. He’s a film buff with a passion for Spaghetti Westerns, ’70s action movies and the films of Jean-Luc Goddard. He also happens to think Falling Mirror is the greatest SA band ever (and sometimes wishes he were a purple door too). He shares his life with a few thousand books and two dogs. Occasionally the dogs let him sleep on the bed.

He was born on November 4, 1966 and attended school at St Henry’s College (Marist Brothers). He studied at the University of Natal (Durban), where he majored in English and Philosophy. Following his National Service he went on to work as a sub-editor on several national magazines.

“The prose is exciting and refreshing and the reader never tires of reading.” – Paul Murray on AmaZulu, LitNet (2007)

“The best thing about the book is that it is not simply another story about Shaka, but rather includes exciting characters. Each epic adventure brings them to a closer understanding of their leaders and their own strengths and weaknesses.” – Thabisile Gumede on AmaZulu, The Witness (2007)
