The early church was the most successful in the history of Christianity even though they didn’t have a Bible, articles of faith, church buildings and PowerPoint slides. In fact, one of the main characteristics of the early church was that its members rid themselves of their possessions. Jesus teaches us that we need to let go in order to be successful and grow closer to God. We need to have less, not more. 

Jaco Strydom describes five habits of early Christians we should take to heart for spiritual growth and to live life in abundance: spend time in solitary prayer, travel light, live in unity, be kind to your enemies, and care about others and do as you’ve been taught. 

Ultimately the message is: Just do it. We need to start practising better habits until they become instinctive.
