Rooiland – Die drama (ePub) | Drama Texts, Plays & Screenplays
They stole a cow from Rabie, the white man. The name of the bull was Rooiland. They slaughtered Rooiland and celebrated. They drank from the horns: Kilikijan the blood, Nongoloza the bile. Then they made a print of the law on the hide. On the hide of Rooiland. That’s the law. And that law survived even on the day heaven and earth was torn asunder – when Kilikijan threw the stone tablets to pieces and the 27s went one way and the 28s another.
A prison cell. Four captives. A fluid, unformed world. A ritual of blood and offerings. An everyday occurrence of prison violence erupting into conflict about matters of universal significance.
