Human & Rousseau
Imaginative detective novel or black comedy, whichever way one reads this novel, it moves at a pace with intrigue and humour and light fantastic moments which will delight and entertain its readers. The main character, the tall dark eccentric hook-nosed Agathe Gruber, has unusual psychic and intuitive powers and finds a perfect ally and partner in the charismatic ex-singer Jesse.
The unravelling of the mystery surrounding the murder of Aga’s mother many decades ago, as well as that of her biological father, the tall scientist with the hawk nose, is aided by Aga’s cheerful neighbour, Claude, a real rough diamond who is never at a loss for words and solutions to problems. The plot weaves an intricate web involving the Chinese mafia and many other characters, and moves from a small Free State village to Pretoria.
A deft author with a sharp eye, a delightful sense of humour and a fine way with words. The characters are interesting and the story seductive.

A fresh breeze in the current crime writing scene. Here we simply have an excellent storyteller at work. An unusual novel but in many ways a treat to read, and in spite of the author’s light touch it is not without depth.

The kind of novel which will captivate readers with a whole spectrum of colourful characters and an interesting plot. The style is lively, original and entertaining.
