Shuna, a leopard cub, is rescued by Seevie, a teenager with a passion for wildlife conservation – when she is only one day old and she becomes the newest member of a family living on a farm in Kwa-Violentia. Seevie grows up as the son of Colonel Merbe and Andrietti Bikoson, but the mysteries surrounding his family’s history let him to suspect that he is an adopted child. Seevie and his girlfriend, Tensy, explore the Mountain of Sh’ong with its hundreds of caves, searching for the grave of Seevie’s estranged sister, Ladine, who was killed in an attack by a gang called the Spuds. The clashes between the Spuds and the people on the Mountain of Sh’ong involve not only Seevie and Tensy, but also Gum, Sh’ongs indomitable son. Merby decides to tell Seevie the secret of his life and real identity when he turns 18. In the weeks leading up to this big event, the Spuds threaten to attack the Mountain and Seevie uses Shuna, the leopard, to save the day. This adventure story delves into the mind of a developing teenager as he comes to understand the passions and problems that goes with growing up and defining one’s own identity, and always to comfort and motivate him, his beloved leopard.
