Albert Blake
Biographical info

Albert Blake is the author of the bestselling Boereverraaier: Teregstellings tydens die Anglo-Boereoorlog that was also turned into a movie called Verraaiers. In 2014 he was awarded the Louis Hiemstra prize for nonfiction by the South African Academy for Science and Art for Boerekryger: ’n Seun se hoogste offer.

Blake has written three more books: Moord en Roof: In die kop van ’n baasspeurder (2013), Ontsnap! Boerekrygsgevangenes se strewe na vryheid (2015) and Broedertwis: Christiaan en Piet de Wet (2016).

He was born in Johannesburg but matriculated at Grey College in Bloemfontein whereafter he completed his military training at the Parachute Batallion. Blake has two masters’ degrees in history from the former RAU. Inbetween writing and researching, he is still a practising as an attorney in Roodepoort.
