Maya Fowler
Biographical info

Maya Fowler was born in Cape Town in 1980 and grew up in Stellenbosch and Graaff-Reinet.

She holds a BA and an MA (Linguistics) from the University of Stellenbosch. Her novel The Elephant in the Room (2009) was shortlisted for the Herman Charles Bosman Prize, and her young-adult title Detour was shortlisted for the Sanlam prize. It subsequently appeared in Afrikaans under the title As jy 'n ster sien verskiet (Tafelberg).

Her short stories have been published in New Contrast Magazine and Sussie Veer is dood en ander stories (Maskew Miller Longman)

Maya lives in Cape Town where she works as a copy editor and translator.
